Since 1951, FREYWILLE has been creating unique handcrafted jewelry full of emotions using their distinctive fire enamel technique. Based out of Vienna, Austria, this brand is well-known for its hand decorated designs based on famous paintings done by 19th and 20th century artists. FREYWILLE’s pieces pay homage to Claude Monet, Gustav Klint, Alphonse Mucha, and Hundertwasser, among others. The craftsman at FREYWILLE incorporate their joy in art and passion for design in each piece, which is evident in the stunning artistic interpretations found in both the Hommage Collections and Contemporary Art Collections.

Developing a FREYWILLE collection can take as long as two years from start to finish due to the rigorous amount of art historical research and sketches that come with each one. Each piece’s pure vivid colors are the result of many layers of fire enamel, and nearly 100 manual steps are required to manufacture such a delicate and color-intense fire enamel plate. All of their jewelry is handmade in Vienna by master craftsman who guard this secret process. Their passion and industry experience ensures that each piece is of the highest quality.

For more than 30 years, FREYWILLE has set new standards in jewelry design and the enamel process, and has been evolving ever since their original location, which still stands today, came to life in 1951. In 1981, they perfected their iconic technique of fusing gold to fire enamel that gives their pieces that unmistakable glow. In 1995, they premiered their Claude Monet collection, and two years later, boutiques opened in Vienna, Paris, London, and Milan. 1998 saw the launch of their Gustav Klimt collection, and in 2002 they opened a boutique in the center of Vienna. The Hundertwasser collection launched in 2003, and in 2005 FREYWILLE finally entered the U.S. Market with a Beverly Hills location.

Today FREYWILLE has 104 boutique locations in 37 countries and four continents, but Diamond Dream is proud to currently be the only retailer in the United States. Come and visit our store to see our selection, and choose a piece for yourself or a friend that will become a lifelong source of joy.

5 Ways To Style Anine Bing Denim

5 ways (2)

Diamond Dream is proud to introduce one of the latest additions to our apparel collection, Anine Bing. Born in Denmark but now based in Los Angeles, former model and designer Anine Bing’s edgy yet feminine designs make any woman wearing them feel like an off-duty model. Her goal was to take wardrobe classics and statement pieces and turn them into easy day-to-night transition pieces. Her dark skinny jeans are the perfect example of this as they can be worn in a variety of ways to any function. Ultra flattering for all shapes and sizes, these jeans are slightly faded in the front, yet their deep navy color allows them to be dressed up or down.

Below are five different ways we like to style our Anine Bing denim ($199):

When you need a quick and effortless outfit while still looking put together, this light and breezy Sundry tee paired with a bucket bag is perfect for a day of errands and coffee dates. The sparkle added by the Peserico beaded necklace elevates it beyond your typical “jeans and T-shirt” look.

Sundry T-Shirt: $77

I Think So Bucket Bag: $95

Peserico Necklace: $230

As summer comes to a close, the nights are getting shorter and cooler. Beat the evening chill by swapping your T-shirt for Sundry’s long sleeved tee, and you’ll be ready for a night on the boardwalk or bonfires with friends.

Sunday Long Sleeve Striped Shirt: $83

I Think So Bucket Bag: $95

If you’re looking for your outfit to be feminine, chic, and comfortable, look no further than Ulla Johnson’s flowy floral printed top paired with jeans. The olive green messenger bag adds a pop of color, and the size and versatility makes it the perfect accessory for any weekend getaway.

Ulla Johnson Printed Top: $196

I Think So Green Messenger Bag: $145

Did someone say “Casual Friday?!” This navy Eleventy blazer worn over Anine Bing’s lace cream camisole paired with dark denim is sophisticated enough to wear to the office. Throw on some snappy heels or wedges and you’re ready to take this look into the evening.

This comfy, plaid button down from Sundry is the perfect transition piece from summer to fall, while the black backpack is great year-round. We see this as the perfect outfit for days filled with fall festivities: apple picking, hayrides, and drinking hot apple cider.

No Rules of Engagement!

When it comes to selecting or re-setting your engagement ring, there are no rules.  Whether you’re a traditional bride or are looking for something unique, the options are endless.  Although a traditional solitaire round cut sparkler is the classic choice, it may be time to step out of the box and choose something that reflects your individual taste and style.  From mixed metal settings to colored gemstones, here are some of the popular engagement ring trends.

FullSizeRender (5)
Fancy Shaped Diamonds and Gemstones
While traditional round brilliant cut diamonds remain the most popular shape for center gemstones, other distinctive fancy shapes, such as square cushion, marquise, radiant, oval and emerald cut diamonds are making a comeback.  From modern to vintage settings, and pairing diamonds with other gemstones, these are all very versatile cuts for rings.
cushion cut
It’s hard not to “fall in love” with our vintage-inspired diamond ring surrounded by a halo and diamond split shank. Halo settings have been a huge trend for years. This design gives you the illusion that your center stone is larger, and the pavé stones flash with light, allowing the center stone to pop.
Rose Gold
Feminine rose gold is making a resurgence for good reason- this rosy shade flatters all skin tones. Exuding warmth and romance, it’s a precious metal in high demand for engagement rings.
Our head turning oval shaped diamond ring with a diamond pave halo prompts a double take in its rose gold setting.
Two of our favorite non-traditional engagement rings with 18K rose gold bands are made by Pomellato.  A mosaic of round diamonds, sitting atop two rows of diamonds, sparkle against the rose gold band.  The 18K rose gold band with pave diamonds is a perfect backdrop for the serenity of its square blue topaz- perfect choice for the contemporary woman.
Colorful Diamonds
For that non-traditional woman, a colorful diamond is a wonderful choice.  Standing out from the crowd, fancy-hued diamonds like yellow and pink, make a dramatic statement.
IMG_6411 (1)
People will remember you for this blinding fancy yellow radiant cut diamond surrounded by a halo of micro-pave diamonds and flanked by half-moon diamonds.
Colored Gems
Although diamonds come in an array of colors, if you’re considering a colorful center stone, you have other exciting choices.  Sapphires, rubies, and emeralds don’t have to be the style of grandma’s ring and are great alternatives to diamonds!  It’s for that woman who wants to express her individuality and can be the perfect choice if these gemstones are the bride-to-be’s birthstone.
Want to feel like royalty?  There’s nothing wrong with imitating the likes of Princess Kate Middleton with our breathtaking and traditional deep blue cushion sapphire.  Surrounded by a halo of diamonds and set in platinum, the band has a row of micro-pave diamonds.
Nothing is more romantic than our custom ring designed with kissing pear shaped garnet and peridot stones, highlighted with a halo of diamonds set in 18K gold.
Nature-Inspired Designs
Blooming with flowers, petals, or overlapping vines, engagement rings evoking nature are perfect for those couples who love the outdoors.
The organic design of our solitaire diamond ring not only resembles overlapping vines but symbolizes infinite love and the intertwining of the couple’s lives, making it a romantic choice.
Elegant meets botanical in our custom blooming oval sapphire ring surrounded by petals of round bezel set diamonds – perfect for any woman.
Come see any or all of our engagement rings or let us create the engagement ring of your dreams!

Rubies-The Magical Birthstone

Rubies and Diamonds and Gems, oh my!  We’re all familiar with the magical power of Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in the movie classic  The Wizard of Oz, but we believe the power of the real precious gem is even more dream-worthy.  The ruby is the birthstone for July and it’s red-hot this season.

For thousands of years, the ruby has been considered the stone of love, passion, and power. Not only is it the perfect gift for a July birthday, it’s also a popular choice for engagement rings or Valentine’s Day.  Our heart shaped “pigeon blood” 1.59ct red ruby is the ideal symbol of love and adoration surrounded by .32ct of pave diamonds set in 18K yellow gold.

ruby with diamonds

According to folklore, rubies were believed to have mystical and healing powers.  When rubbed on the skin, they were thought to restore youth and vitality.  Try rubbing our 2.04ct emerald cut “pigeon-blood” red ruby diamond ring on your skin and we’re sure you will be healed of all ailments!  Handmade in 18K white gold, it’s elegantly surrounded with a double halo of .52 micro-pave diamonds.

ruby brushed gold

One of the most precious and valuable gemstones in nature, rubies are extremely rare. Its hardness is second only to the diamond which makes it durable enough for everyday wear.   With an old world feel from our organic collection, this pinkish 3.00ct cabachon ruby ring, embellished with .32ct diamonds, is set in brushed 18K yellow gold.  Fit for a queen!

rubyring side diamonds

The value of rubies is primarily determined by its color.  “Pigeon’s blood” red is a vivid red color and traditionally commands a premium over other colors. We “love” our classic 2.18ct oval-shaped “pigeon’s blood” red ruby ring set with .39ct of side diamonds.   This ring is perfect for that blissful “I do” moment.

Happy Birthday July babies!  Want to bring a little Hollywood into your life? Click your ruby red slippers three times and be transported to Diamond Dream to see our collection of rubies.

June’s Birthstone is the Pearl!

Coco Chanel
“A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls.”

June’s Birthstone is the Pearl!

Pearls are treasures from the sea that have charmed people forever with their timeless appeal. From Coco Chanel to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, pearls have been revered by fashion designers, royalty and celebrities for their beauty and simplicity.
Pearls are the only gemstone made by living animals. Known as “Queen of Gems,” pearls were once valued as the most expensive jewelry in the world. Symbols of wealth and power, pearls rarity made them invaluable and therefore were reserved for only the noble and very rich.
References to pearls date as far back as 4200 BC in Egypt. India’s sacred books and legends abound with pearl references, and according to South Asian mythology, pearls were believed to be dewdrops from heaven that fell into the earth. Perhaps one of the most magical ancient stories about pearls finds Cleopatra wagering a bet with Marc Anthony that she could throw the most expensive dinner in history. She crushed one pearl from a pair of earrings, dissolved it in wine and drank it, solidifying her victory!
Today most pearls are “cultured” or “cultivated.” Water pollution, tsunamis, and other phenomena have made it difficult to harvest “natural” pearls.

Types of Pearls

When one thinks of the classic round strand of pearls, they are usually thinking of akoya. Grown off the coast of Japan, saltwater akoya pearls found in oysters, are best known for their perfectly round shape and reflective luster. Fun Fact: In 1917, Pierre Cartier purchased his Fifth Avenue NYC store from Morton Freeman Plant with $100 and his most valuable two strand pearl necklace valued at one million, admired by Plant’s wife.

Mizuki 1Mizuki2

Freshwater pearls are the most affordable pearls sold today. Found in mussels, freshwater pearls have shapes ranging from round to free-form baroque and color options from white to pastel colors. Pearls take on the color of the inside of the shell from which they are growing. They have a softer luster than akoya, except in the case of rare metallics.

The only natural dark pearl is the Tahitian, grown in French Polynesia. Although most Tahitian pearls are thought of as a black pearl, they can come in a rainbow of exotic colors. Considered very valuable, they come in baroque, drops and oval shapes. Round Tahitian pearls are quite rare.

South Sea Pearls

Considered the most valuable, South Sea pearls are the largest saltwater pearls grown today. Found primarily in Australia, the Philippines and Indonesia, they range in color from white to gold and are primarily in shapes of drops, baroques and ovals. Finding a round South Sea pearl is extremely rare due to their tremendous size. Fun Fact: Named the “Pearl of Allah,” this unique baroque shaped pearl is reported to be the largest natural pearl in existence. Weighing fourteen pounds, it’s valued at 3.5 million.
