The famous and iconic jeweler of the Russian court and aristocracy, Faberge has decided to revive the long standing tradition of creating one of a kind, illustrious jeweled eggs. The newfangled Faberge Pearl Egg is the first in the “Imperial Class” since 1917. The Steel Military Egg was Faberge’s last Imperial creation by the Tsar just moments before he was removed by the Russian Revolution.
The company has collaborated with the renowned pearl collectors, the Al-Fardan family for this new project. The collaboration drew inspiration from the formation of a pearl that is found within an oyster. The new imperial egg’s mother-of-pearl exterior opens in six sections to reveal a 12.17 carat grey pearl from the Arabian Gulf. The one of a kind egg also features 139 fine, white pearls with a golden luster, 3,305 diamonds, carved rock crystal and mother-of-pearl set on white and yellow gold.
This egg will be the first of several that will be unveiled by Faberge and will be subsequently sold at the end of a five day exhibition located in Qatar.
Be on the lookout for more information and pictures as other Faberge designs become unveiled.
