Mysterious Diamond Ring Inspires Song
A 18k gold diamond ring washed up among flotsam and jetsam during a clear-up on the shore at Otterswick on the Shetland island of Yell. It was found inside a small wooden box, bearing a name of a jeweler in New York.
There is a mystery that surrounds how it ended up there remains unsolved and led to a creation of a music track entitled “Rough Diamond” by the fiddle and concertina duo, Claire White and Frances Wilkins.
The song is one hypothesis of an intriguing story of how it might have ended up in Yell. The duo hope to find the answer to the original owner as well as the individual that it may have been intended for. Hopefully through word of mouth, and the song will bring those individuals forward.
