Sotheby Hong Kong Tremendous Trio Auction
On April 7, Sotheby’s hong Kong will host a sale of magnificent jewels and jadeite. It will feature 320 lots and has a presale estimate of $99 million.
This auction will exhibit the “Tremendous Trio” which comprises three luxurious necklaces that display superlative quality and proportions in diamonds, gemstones, and jadeite. A white diamond necklace has 85.33 carats, the Red Emperor necklace has over 104.51 carats and the famous Hutton-Mdivani jadeite bead necklace, which we wrote about in this post.
The White diamond necklace was created by Nirav Modi (pre-sale of $7.3 – $8.3 million). It has 17 brilliant cut diamonds that weigh between 1.27 carat and 10.51 carat, all of which are D color and flawless to internally flawless clarity, connected by 40 smaller diamoneds that are also graded D, IF.
The Red Emperor features 60 pigeon’s blood rubies of 104.51 carat weight, brilliant cut, pear shaped diamonds that were designed by James W. Currens. It has a pre-sale value of $8.7 – $11 million.
The sale will also feature exquisite jewelry pieces such as a 10.261 carat royal blue sapphire necklace that signifies the first occurrence of sapphire of its proportion and caliber in the auction market in Asia. It has a pre-sale estimate of $2.8 – $3.8 million.
