Soetheby’s has recently announced that it will be offering a 100.20-carat, D color, internally flawless emerald-cut diamond at its April 21st auction in New York City. This breathtaking diamond also known as “The Ultimate Emerald-Cut Diamond” will be viewable around the world in various places such as Dubai, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, London and New York. The pre-sale estimate is somewhere between $19 million to $25 million
Gary Schuler, the head of Sotheby’s jewelry department in New York, said: “This 100.20 carat diamond is the definition of perfection. The color is whiter than white, it is free of any internal imperfections, and so transparent that I can only compare it to a pool of icy water.”
The original 200ct + rough diamond was mined by De Beers in Southern Africa. The current owner spent over one year studying, cutting and polishing it.
